From September to November 2024 (excluding school holidays), Codeacademy123 offers a series of captivating courses designed to introduce young children to programming and artificial intelligence. The courses will take place at La Maison des Petits Loups, located at 2, Place du Théâtre, 92800 Puteaux.
For children aged 5 to 6 years old
Adventures in Computational Thinking

This course invites children to explore the world of computational thinking through the adventures of Ruby, a curious and imaginative young girl. Ruby guides the participants through a universe filled with fun challenges that develop logic and problem-solving skills. Through interactive activities and games, they discover key concepts in computing, such as algorithms, breaking down complex problems into simple steps, and pattern recognition.
This course encourages creativity and critical thinking, designed to be accessible without the use of digital equipment, focusing instead on practical exercises and engaging stories.
Programming for Preschoolers with ScratchJr

his course offers a fun and accessible introduction to visual programming through the ScratchJr application, developed by the MIT Media Lab. This intuitive tool, specifically designed for young beginners, allows them to create games and animations. Participants are guided through interactive projects where they can choose characters, add backgrounds, and assemble colorful code blocks to build action sequences. These activities encourage sequential thinking, understanding cause and effect, and developing problem-solving skills. By manipulating visual elements rather than text, they can immediately see the results of their actions, reinforcing their understanding of basic programming concepts.
The course emphasizes creative exploration, allowing children to express themselves freely and see their ideas come to life on the screen, laying the foundation for more advanced computing skills.
For children aged 7 to 12+ years old
Introduction to Robotics

This course introduces young learners to the basics of robotics and artificial intelligence through the use of two robots: mBot and Cozmo.
The program begins with the assembly of mBot, an educational robot easy to construct, which introduces basic electronic components such as motors, sensors, and microcontrollers. Once assembled, participants learn to program the robot to perform various tasks, such as following a path, avoiding obstacles, or responding to sounds and light.
They then discover Cozmo, an intelligent robot equipped with facial recognition, emotion detection, and machine learning capabilities. Through interactive activities, they explore how Cozmo uses its sensors and AI to interact with its environment and respond to commands. Learners familiarize themselves with coding simple behaviors for Cozmo, enabling it to play games, explore its surroundings, and display emotions.
This course provides a practical and fun approach to understanding the principles of robotics and AI. Participants develop skills in programming, problem-solving, and logical thinking while discovering how technology can be used to create intelligent machines. Combining robot construction with programming and AI elements, this program lays the groundwork for deeper exploration of these growing fields.
Machine Learning for Kids

his course introduces young learners to the fundamental concepts of machine learning in a fun and accessible way. Throughout the sessions, participants learn to create, train, and test their machine learning models. The process begins by setting up a project, such as emotion recognition in images or classifying types of animals. They collect data, such as images, texts, or sounds, which they use to train a model capable of making predictions or classifications.
Once the machine learning training is complete, participants can test and adjust the model to improve its accuracy. Finally, these models are integrated into a visual programming interface called Scratch, allowing young learners to see their creations in action.
This course helps develop skills in critical thinking, data collection and analysis, and programming. By demystifying machine learning, it provides a valuable introduction to a key technological field, designed to be accessible and engaging for young minds.
