The importance of robotics in education, particularly for young children, is increasingly recognized. Robotics is not just about learning technologies and engineering concepts; it is a multi-faceted educational tool that enhances learning in various areas.
Importance of Robotics in Education
Below are some important points:
Engagement and enthusiasm: Robots intrinsically fascinate children, making learning more engaging and exciting.
Hands-on learning: Robotics provides a tangible way to interact with technology, promoting experiential learning.
Interdisciplinary approach: Robotics integrates various subjects such as mathematics, science, engineering and technology, thereby encouraging a holistic education.
Problem-solving skills: Working with robots improves critical thinking and problem-solving skills in real-world scenarios.
Creativity and innovation: Robotics encourages creativity, allowing children to design, build and experiment with their ideas.

How Robotics Improves Children's Learning?
By exposing children very early (from the age of 7) to robotics, they will develop skills relevant to the digital age. Indeed, robotics makes it possible to develop computational thinking, by learning to program robotics sensors and ways to control robots. It also improves teamwork and exchanges such as communication and leadership.

Codeacademy123's course on robotics programming uses two robots: Mbot from Makeblock and Cozmo. Contact us: info@codeacademy123.com
mBot is an educational kit. The robot arrives in separate parts and the child will have to assemble the robot before taking part in its programming. When assembling the robot, the child will have to read and understand the assembly instructions and the installation of the sensors. Finally, after about twenty minutes, the child will have the satisfaction of having a robot that obeys to a remote control to move, avoid obstacles and can follow a path. A first robotic discovery and a first step in the field of engineering! Once the robot is assembled, it will be subject to various programming scenarios with the mBblock software (software similar to Scratch) available on an iPad.
The other robot is called Cozmo (application available on iPad). It stands out with its AI-based interactivity. It’s more than just a robot; it is a companion that can express emotions, recognize faces and participate in games. Cozmo's user-friendly interface makes it an engaging tool for introducing children to the basics of AI and machine learning. Its interactive nature ensures that learning is not only educational but also fun and relevant.
Together, mBot and Cozmo offer a comprehensive educational package that covers a wide range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills, from basic programming to advanced AI concepts, making them ideal for an educational experience in diverse and enriching robotics.
